The Adventure Begins
Peter spent the week of Dec 1st to the 8th in Newport Beach, CA finalizing the purchase of Alexandra.  After a few days of preping the boat for the truck-trailer and spending time with friends and associates, Alexandra was ready for the cross-country trip on land.  She arrives in Tarpon Springs, FL Wednesday the 17th. Peter is driving from Wrightsville Beach, NC to pickup George in Orlando, FL then over to the Tarpon Springs Boat Services yard, where they will move her to the cradle and put her back together, get a bottom paint job, new waterline stripe and other refinements in preparation for the cruise.
She's coming in right on time and plans to go in the water shortly after New Year's Day.

Peter leaves home in Hampstead at 3:30 a.m. and picks up George in Orlando at 12:30.  We arrive at the boatyard in picturesque Tarpon Springs, FL at 3 p.m. and they have already transfered her off the truck to stands.  Tomorrow will be a good wash down and then put parts back together.  We get a good, clean motel and have a wonderful meal at a fishing family owned restaurant.  Clean Plate Club for both.  Early to bed - early to rise.  The planned launch date is Jan. 2, 2009.  More photos HERE.

Friday morning was spent was spent scrubbing the old name off, cleaning the hull some more and the many other preparation  'chores'.  An executive decision was made to 'allow' the yard to buff out the hull and the b.n.'s applauded that excellent choice!  By the time we return on 1-1-2009;  the hull, bottom paint and new enclosure for the bridge will be complete.  We decide to head on down to Sarasota to scout the situation out and find some good locations for a 'Home Port' while we explore the area for a month.  After a visit with Scolley and household, we head back to George's in Orlando.  Peter heads home Saturday morning, a day early.  Happy Holidays and we will update on New Year's day.

Picturesque Tarpon Springs, Florida
Peter Morse - East West Yacht Deliveries - George Swartwout
It was a beautiful and busy day in Tarpon Springs.  Major wash down and reinstallation of all the antennas and metal work on the flybridge took up most of the day.  Scolley brought up buffers for polishing the hull on Friday.  We had another fine meal at the Rusty Bellies for lunch, they prepare perfectly cooked Mahi-Mahi / Dorado.  Capt. Jacks' Tiki was a great place on the water for refreshments, beers and conversation with John Orme (owner of Pelican Marine who is doing the bottom paint on Alexandra), then an excellent dinner at the Greek restaurant Mykonnis.
